OBJECTIVE:
To promote a charity bingo with a high-value prize (a S10), without offending the religious sensibilities of the community, especially that of the priest, who explicitly requested that he “didn’t want to mix gambling with a saint”.
CREATIVE CHALLENGE:
How to create a piece for a church fundraising event, with the necessary visual appeal to engage, without directly using the image of the patron saint?
SOLUTION:
The saint was inserted subtly, as a watermark in the clouds, creating a kind of hidden “spiritual presence”. The highlighted phrase “It’s all a matter of faith!” completes the concept, connecting the veiled image with the event’s proposal, without breaking the client’s request.
As I joked with the priest: “She’s not there, only those who have faith can see her.”
RESULT:
- The event was a success in terms of attendance and fundraising.
- The poster generated positive comments in the community for balancing reverence with visual impact. - The play became a local reference for creativity and cultural sensitivity, and one of my favorites to this day.
